Solar-Powered Plane Completes 26-Hour Flight


The Solar Impulse HB-SIA landed early on July 8th after successfully flying for more than 24 hours on nothing but solar power.  The plane left from the company’s Payerne airbase in Switzerland and landed there safely 26 hours and 9 minutes later.

Business Going Green: Exclusive GTTV Series

The need for sustainable business practices is rapidly approaching a tipping point in companies both large and small. They’re learning that sustainability is much more than just good citizenship, it’s also good for the bottom-line.

But once a company decides to “go green,” the question becomes, “How do we do it?"


As part of Yale's continuing commitment to creating a sustainable campus, the Yale Office of Sustainability has developed a set of Green Certification programs for workplaces, labs, and events. The green certification program is designed to educate faculty and staff about sustainable practices they can implement to reduce Yale's impact on the environment. GreenTech TV spoke with Melissa Goodall, Assistant Director of Yale’s Office of Sustainability, to learn more about the programs and talk about the environmental leadership role that Yale is playing among universities around the world.
